Development of green methodologies for the valorization of polymers
1) Designing and development of heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysts for the valorization of cellulose and hemicellulose into sugars, sugar derivatives (furfural, HMF, sugar alcohols etc.)
2) Homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts for the oxidation (FDCA, gluconic acid, furoic acid), hydrogenation (sorbitol, xylitol, furfuryl alcohol, DMF) of sugars and sugar derivatives
3) Depolymerization of lignin into aromatic monomers and their further conversion via hydrodeoxygenation into hydrocarbons
4) Chitin and Chitosan chemistry
5) Development of new materials for their applications in biomass conversion
6) Plastic circularity - conversion of waste plastic into monomers and other value added chemicals
