Soft Condensed Matter Physics (Theory and Experiment)

Overview

Soft condensed matter is an emerging field in science which is a subfield of condensed matter. It refers to studies of systems that can be easily deformed by thermal or mechanical excitation. Interesting fact is these systems neither behaves like a solid or a liquid. It has mixed characteristics and huge industrial applications which makes it an interesting field of research. An everyday example of these systems spans from the food we eat to the products we use like milk, blood, paint, ice cream, shaving gel, toothpaste, clay, and the list goes on. In PSE we have faculties working on different accepts of these soft matter systems both using theoretical and experimental methods. Some of the studies include 1) Looking at the correlation between structure, thermodynamics, and dynamics. 2) Competition between Vitrification and devitrification in these systems. 3) Rheology of colloidal systems.
