Sustained and controlled release technologies find applications in healthcare, chemical engineering, agriculture, water treatment, coatings, antifouling, etc. Materials based on polymers, inorganic and hybrids of polymer and inorganic components are in practice. In our lab, we design, synthesize, and develop those materials in desired formulations/architectures to achieve sustained or controlled release. The formulations / architectures are of microcapsules, scaffolds, films, gels, fibers, particles, etc. immobilized with active agents either physically, ionically or covalently in different forms such as bulk, micro and nano. We have expertise in manipulating the delivery systems to control the release kinetics and mechanisms of the encapsulated agent. Our lab is well established with infrastructure to characterize and analyze the properties of these materials. Also, there is an adequate facility for cell culture studies in vitro and in vivo to understand the cytotoxicity, biocompatibility and biodegradability of these materials.
