Tandem Repeats In Protein Sequences

Amino acid repeats are common in many proteins. Although their significance in protein structure and function has been demonstrated in some proteins, it remains largely unclear. Recently they have gained much attention due to association of several neuro-degnerative disorders with unstable poly-glutamine repeats in affected proteins. This database provides a comprehensive picture of repeat patterns observed in 80,000 proteins from SWISS-PROT protein sequence database (Release:38, of July 1999).
