Artificial Intelligence Systems

Overview

The main focus of the Artificial Intelligent Systems Group (AISG) at NCL, is to employ artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) based models exclusively from the process/system data. The group in the last 25 years have designed and developed AI- and ML-based strategies for the steady-state and dynamic process modeling, classification, optimization, fault detection and dynamics, model-based control, soft-sensor development, etc. A number of these strategies have been successfully implemented by large- and medium-scale as also multi-national companies. Some of the AI and ML formalisms utilized in these applications are artificial neural networks (ANNs), support vector regression (SVR), genetic algorithms (GA), and genetic programming (GP). The AISG has also designed, developed and successfully demonstrated AI and ML-based methodologies for chemo-informatics and bioinformatics.
